Hello Bill,
May I be the first to congratulate you and thank you for undertaking such a monumental step in supplying the Model T restoration hobby.
We collectively have been very concerned about the availability of good wheels. They are such a vital link between car completion and safety.

Please explain, in detail, how tires slipping on the rim problem that was pervalent with the original Mclaren rims has been corrected in this newer version?

It's nice to see these wheels back in production. Does Birdhaven have a website or catalog so that we can see the current pricing of these wheels and other Birdhaven stuff?
Keep crankin',
Eric

To all Please let me answer Ron's question.
Our clincher rims are made with Ford prints and measurements. We also upset the inside radiuses of the wheel with a sharp burr where the tire and rim meet. (something that Ford did not do, that I am aware of).
From my past experience and speaking with a large number of friends & customers the number one issue with clinchers spinning and coming off the rim is LOW AIR PRESSURE IN THE TUBE TIRE COMBO. I was always told 60 to 65 PSI.
When mounting a clincher please do not use DUCK Soap(Dawn dish soap) If you must use soap please use tire soap. ( tire soap dries out and stops being slippery)
When we mount clincher tires we do not use soap. We put the tire in a box that has a hole in it, we install a master heat gun in the hole and raise the temperature of the tire to the point that we are unable to touch the tire with our bare hands then we use gloves and slide the tire and tube on the rim by hand.
When Mr. Mike Lebsack built the McLaren wire wheels we sold a large number of Sure Stop Brake Kits that were used with the McLaren wire wheels I have not had any reports of a clincher tire spinning on a McLaren wire wheel.
In addition my family and I do the timing and scoring of Model T and Model A hill climbs. We have had a Model T with as much as 140+ foot pounds of torque and 80 plus horse power to the wheels. The car has McLaren wire wheels.
All this to say everyone should have the upmost confidence in our clincher rims.

Ken, Ralph, Scott & Steve
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. We try very hard to make things for Model T's that people will be proud to have on their cars.
We also intend to make products that help keep Model T's out of the shed /garage and on the road where they belong.
Again Thank You!

Eric,
At this time we do not have a web site for the rim and wheel business. The purchase of wire wheels is some what intimate.
Lots of choices so the web site will be big. It will take some time for this computer illiterate person to get a site done and up on the net. (as the kids say)(so i' am told)
Anyone is more then welcome to call or e-mail with question or requests #866-302-FORD (3673)
birdhaven2010@gmail.com
Thank You
