2 3/4 to 1 PINION GEAR

Post by StanHowe » Thu Oct 03, 2019 4:56 pm

ONLY one I've ever seen. Used but in excellent condition. Your guess is as good as mine what it needs to fit up to but if nothing else this would be good conversation at the next meeting.

$150 includes US shipping.

I prefer Paypal. Or email stanhowemt@aol.com phone 406 949 3448

Nice! A good friend many years ago had a set of 13/36 (original Ruckstell) gears in the Ruckstell in his speedster. It was said they were 2 3/4 to 1, but I never did the math on it. I have seen a few 36 tooth Ruckstell ring gears over the years, and very few of the special pinions for them. Because the set was made for speed, not reliability under heavy loads, the smaller ring gear requires a set-back for the pinion, hence the toothless shoulder and slight hollow on the ends. I have also read about, but never seen myself, 35 tooth ring gears. I am not sure which one this one is for. Frankly don't feel like doing the math right now.
It would be a wonderful setup for a fast speedster if one could get the ring gear to match this!

Needs a 36 tooth ring gear to make it a 2.76 ratio.

They were used also in 3/4 midget sprint cars with 12” tires. Have one in the barn.
