FS, DC coil tester

Post by Ruxstel24 » Tue Oct 08, 2019 7:00 pm

Not sure if this is homemade or not.
I believe it works. Battery powered, I suppose you could hook it to your Magneto.
(Coil not included) :D
$75 to your house (USA)

A friend had one just like it for sale at Hershey for the same price.

Either you bought it or it was either a kit or an early cottage manufacture product.

That device will tell if a coil is bad, when you get no sparks at all.

It will not tell you the capacitor is bad and it is always no good!

It will not tell you when your coil produces random misfires resulting in reduced engine performance.

The Hand Crank Coil Tester will show the random miss-fires, but not the bad capacitor.

Jim, it was in my dad’s stuff.
I think if you hooked it to your mag it would maybe be more useful than you think.
You could also use 12V. The ammeter should help at least adjust the points close.
I run a distributor so no expert on coils.
