WANTED, original Babbitt rear axle thrust washers.
If anyone might have one or a couple that they would be willing to part with, I am looking for at least 1 N.O.S. Babbitt thrust washer for the rear axle. One would be sufficient, but a couple would be better. Definitely not buying them to use, just need a couple of "good" examples. Please let me know what you might have available. You can contact me through a Private Message here on the forum, thanks for your time and help.

In my experience even New Old Stock babbitt thrust washers may not be "good". They seem to oxidize on the shelf and go bad. The best ones I have ever seen were out of rear axles where the steel thrust plates kept the air away from them. Even then they can be oxidized around the perimeter.

This is one of my NOS washers. It is not a "good" one, as it has oxidized and blistered during storage. I am sure they were bright shiney and soft like crankshaft bearing material ( could be cut and shaved into a curl with a knife) when new.

A post from several years ago stated the alloy is not babbitt, but a similar looking one.

Re: WANTED, original Babbitt rear axle thrust washers.
Henry, I sent you a Private Message.
I need a couple for an upcoming project, not for any actual/real use and one for myself to have as an example. I would never use nor advise or condone using the original style Babbitt, let alone 90 to 100 year old examples. They were good enough for the original day, but not anymore, much better options. I have a couple of the original bronze ones that they used up until 1915 (I think?), but not any Babbitt. The sad part about the one shown below, good thickness but the I.D. is worn oversized (by quite a bit).
