WTB front motor mount

Post by Michael Paul » Wed Nov 27, 2019 10:02 am

Good morning, I'm looking for a front motor mount like the one from the parts book photo below. Notice there are lobes where the spring clamps bolt on rather than straight across like the later one below.

Any help finding one is appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

Good morning, still looking for the early style front motor mount. Does anyone have an actual photo of one? Any help appreciated, Mike

Hi Michael,
Here is one I have. There is some debate as to whether they were used only on the first 2500 cars in 1909 or if they were used also later perhaps until 1910.

Thank you for the photo, it would be interesting to know if it was just the first 2500 cars. If that's the case I may have the correct one. Anyone have the early style on a later 09 ?
Thanks, Mike

Here's a photo of the thickness and shape of the early mount next to the later. Notice the thickness of the u bolt location. With all of the stress on that thinner casting, I could see why they thickened things up.
Thanks to Lauren Butler for sharing the information.

Here's a view from underneath. Very large cavity! Must have been a problem being that thin.

This is turning out to be an interesting discussion that perhaps should be on the forum. The underneath of mine has much smaller cavities. There may have been a succession of changes to improve its overall strength. The big question remains, when was the change made to the later more rectangular one? Anyone?
