WTB Prest-O-Lite Acetylene brackets 3''

Post by Quickm007 » Tue Dec 10, 2019 2:21 pm

I would like to buy brackets for my prest-o-lite exactly like on the picture. I bought a set but unfortunately to large 6''. I need 3" Brackets. If someone have 2 straps of 3" of diameter it will be awesome. Please send me pictures.

Mario
The MC tank does not use the same type of latching brackets. The were a bolt on bracket that generally mounted to handlebars.

For what it is worth, the MC tank will work fine for a static display and short demonstration of acetylene headlamp operation, however for long term continuous use, you will need a type E or B tank.

thank you Keith for the info, really appreciated. Did you have perhaps pictures of bolt on bracket that generally mounted to handlebars?

Mario-
Here you go!

The 3" tank, designated as a MC tank, was designed for use on MotorCycles.

Sometimes those brackets were used to hold a handle and used as a plumber's torch:

I designed and built this acetylene MC tank set up mounted under the back seat floorboards of my 1911 years ago.

It worked fine, but I wanted to use the headlamps continuously and safely, so I got a B tank and brackets then designed this adapter so the Prest-O-Lite brackets mount to the running board using the holes that mount the E&J carbide generator. I did not want to drill any hole in my original running boards. Because of the shape, I called this adapter an E-dapter:
E-dapter.jpg
Here is my E-dapter sitting on the running board with the E&J generator bracket sitting on top of it to show the relative attachment location:

I still have the MC tank under-the-floorboards-assembly. Let me know if you are interested in it.

Awesome Keith. I will custom by my own the brackets... I saw on ebay how much they asked for a pair, it's $300. Way Too much. I will invest on my handcraft abilities..

Catalog says "quick detachable tire tank band".
A compressed air tank went in this to carry compressed air to inflate tires.
