Re: Wanted original valve grinding tool
To actually do the work, a NeWay cutter set is far more accurate. https://www.cylinderheadsupply.com/newa ... tters.html. If you call NeWay, they will help you put together the exact kit of tools to do the job...they know our cars and their products and will sell you only what you need. They are very nice and helpful.
If you're just collecting tools, well, that's another story.

Re: Wanted original valve grinding tool
Charles J. - I purchased a nice set of valve seat cutter equipment from Neway quite a few years ago, and have only done "valve jobs" with that equipment ever since. However, for what it's worth, I used to have one of the old hand crank devices that I bought as a kid in the '50's or '60's that was always used back then to hand "lap" valves. As I remember, it would oscilate (sp?) back and forth a partial turn while turning the valve a bit further with each turn. What I also remember, and what might be of interest to you Charles, is that I remember that the "working end" of the shaft of that hand-cranked grinder had a slot in it, and a hole for a pin that would lock several different devices to the grinder for grinding different sizes/types of valves. One of those "devices" was a rubber suction cup, and there were also a couple different sized flat key type devices with two little "nubbins" that would fit in valves that had the two holes in them. The "nubbins" (my word) were spaced differently in the different flat key type attachments to accommodate different types of valves that had different "spacing" of the two holes in the valve heads.
All of the above from memory Charles, as I have no idea what ever happened to that "antiquated" old valve grinder that I'm pretty sure I probably bought from Warshawsky's (J.C.Whitney predecessor) in Chicago when I was a kid.
For what it's worth,.....harold

Re: Wanted original valve grinding tool
Well I can say with certainty that your request is a total mystery. You asked for a tool that fit the two holes in a T valve. You've been shown and offered tools that do just that.
You do realize that original valves had holes and modern valves, do not, right?
If you know that and have rejected all tools that fit the holes, then perhaps this is what you want:

Unless you get specific, I suspect folks will grow tired of guessing. At least I am.
