Getting used to the forum

Hello,
First post in the new forum. I am getting along slowly but surely with navigating here. I historically have only used maybe 5 to 10% of any sites functions at sights I visit as I do not seem to need the all the bells and whistles. Maybe that's why I do not see the need for a smart phone.

Larry, As long as you can read the posts and ask questions you are 99% on the right track. I don’t use most of the extra functions on many sites and do just fine!

Larry - Me too! (....getting used to the new forum that is....) What I'm writing right now is the very first time I've tried to do anything on the new forum. I hope you or somebody might respond to what I've just written so that I can tell if I'm actually "ON" the new forum. I am just barely computer literate, in fact, I still can't post a photo to the old forum, if that explains my almost total lack of "computer savvy"! As an example, if someone told me to "refresh my browser", that would be like telling a brain surgeon to "flash his generator" to get it to charge. That absolutely brilliant brain surgeon would probably reply,....."HUH?" I don't know what a browser is, or what "cookies" are, or any of that stuff. And I certainly don't know what an "avatar" is!!! Well, anyway, this "reply" is just mostly for me to see if I'm actually on the new system or not, as I have not received any conformation from the webmaster, and for all I know, that may be because I only "think" I've registered, but perhaps really haven't! I'm determined to make the switch to the new forum, but I think it's sure gonna' take me some time! Maybe it's sort of like back in 1909, a Model T Ford salesman having to help some old guy change from a horse to an automobile,....gotta' teach the old guy to drive first! (:^)

You're in, Harold. Posting pictures here is easier because you don't have to resize them yourself. Except for the avatar, resizing is automatic.

Glad to see you made it in. I know enough about computers to get in trouble. One place I worked, I was called the ultimate software validator. I would get so far off the programmer's intended path that they could not figure out what I did to crash the system.

Takes me a good while but if I stick to it & throw a few tantrums I can usually pull through. Found a free Microsoft resizer app which I eventually used for the avitar (Paint almost drove me nuts) then threw another fit when I realised I only needed it for the avitar since the photo's resize automatically. Can't stay pissed when it works out. Keep trying & asking. You'll get there.

This new format is the same as the AA-Ford Forum & it is a good format, However I have an issue posting pictures to this format from my Windows Live Photo Gallery. Mike from the AA- Ford Forum was helping me with it, but need some time home to figure it out. I have NO issues with any of the other
forum formats that I post on. This is NOT a put down, just stating a fact & I am sure with a bit of computer work I will figure it out.
I also love the fact that you must now use your full name in your profile! It makes it easier to research someone you may be making a deal with or using their service.
God Bless & Enjoy the New Forum
Bill

Richard, in your browser, you can save the forum address in your “favorites" or “bookmarks” depending on the internet browser you use.

Charley, that's what I always say about learning computer stuff. Have some kid teach you how.
