Posted an ad for a Bosch front plate a week or so ago. I asked for communication by phone as I don't get in front for the computer so much. Got a text with several different pictures. One was the plate and distributor and misc. pieces. Communication has been by text and seems like english is not their 1st language. Sent a personal check for $50. over asking price to cover handling and shipping. Now they are asking for an additional $70. and they now want payment via Zelle. I checked the site and it sounds like it is prone to scammers. The sellers' mailing address is in Indianapolis ID. I checked the address via a search company and the sellers name does not show up. Address is for a multi-family apartment. Does this sound flakey or what. Oh, yah they don't answer the phone they are texting with. has anyone else encountered this?

Yes you have been scammed. Next time ask for a picture with the item as well as something you personally request written on paper next to the item.

You can do a photo search on google. I'll do that if I suspect something is phoney. Scammers pick photos off the net and try to pass them off as their own.

Some of the scammers are really bad and need to up their game! LOL Know of one that the scammer was using the OPs own photo from the want ad and trying to sell it to them!

Its been posted over and over not to expose personal information on the forum (eMail, phone or address). All you need is to ask a member to either email or PM you via the forum to start a conversation and then send phone numbers. When you send a "personal check" you are sending your both your bank number and account number, plus your name & address and what ever other information is that corner (you already gave them your phone number). Then when send via Zelle they have your email address. ID could be a type-o or the country code of Indonesia
Once a check is cleared, the payer can't reverse it and get their money back. However, if they can prove to the bank that the check was fraudulent or a case of identity theft, they can potentially get their money returned to their account.
