Stromberg choke control
Taking orders .........This is a nice item to have if you run an aftermarket carb of any type, but they were included originally with the Stromberg LF, OF, and RF . They mount easily on the steering column right below the levers, and make starting and warming up these carb very easy. No holes to drill. Cable supplied is easily shortened. Money back if not satisfied. We will have the next small batch done in late May, early June. We will hold the price of $165 including postage to your door. If you would like to get on the list, tmorsher@icloud.com , no PMs. No money needed until they are ready to ship, and you can certainly change your mind when ready. Thanks!

I have one of Tim's choke controls and it is great! If you think you might want one, you'd better jump on it! JMHO Dave

Re: Stromberg choke control
Tim, I notice you are using a wire wrapped cable for the cable. Do you have an original? If you don't I have one I'll loan you if you'd like. Nothing wrong with what you are doing, I just noticed it. Back to the shop.

Re: Stromberg choke control
Stan, thanks. For our patterns I have a NOS original and also several used ones. I’ve purchased maybe 3 or 4 in my lifetime, and very hard to find. If they are in the weather at all, the screws and internals rust really bad. ( I should mention all our hardware is stainless steel ) They don’t survive well with the original tube, and have really debated myself on this part. The first couple batches that were made ,we used Matt black powder coat on the wire wrapped cable, but it doesn’t hold up when flexed. Probably fine when installed , but hard to ship a 4 length without wrapping it up, and that’s when it chipped. The original is thickwall soft brass with a nickel plate on it. Impossible to find that material, and getting it plated would take the price out of the realm. I have purchased an easily bendable aluminum tubing that is very close to size, but just not sure how it would hold up to getting rolled for shipping and then installed. I’m not really up to warranty work. Another idea is to use about a 3’ length of shrink wrap tubing on the spiral tube. That would probably Telegraph the spirals through , so again, it’s the price thing.
I do buy the choke cable and wire in bulk, and it’s heavy duty stuff, but if someone seeing this wants the aluminum tube on theirs ( and then to not bother me when/if they screw it up) I’d be glad to substitute.
As you probably know, really not making a killing on these, but it keeps my ass off a bar stool somewhere.

Re: Stromberg choke control
I bought one from Tim last month and it works fine.
I installed it as received, not bothering to shorten it, but I’ll shorten it a little when I have time. The OF runs much better when the engine is cold with a little choke, so I’m real happy with the control.

Re: Stromberg choke control
I assumed you had some originals. Some people assume that a guy in Montana having 50 OF throttle arms laser cut has access to every resource Stromberg had when they made 750,000 of them. Same with that soft tube for the choke. Stromberg probably had it made for them and it hasn't been available since 1927.

Re: Stromberg choke control
I received mine yesterday. Really well done. So, I'm lucky I have an OF carb made by Stan and now, the Stromberg choke. I will install both end of summer when my 1914 engine will be ready. We are lucky having gentlemen dedicated to restoring stuff like that.
Cheers,
Mario
