Motor and trans wanted - with a geographical hiccup (I need it in NZ :-)

Post by Luke » Tue Jun 30, 2020 2:00 am

Hi all,

Sadly my 1926 Roadster suffered a recent motor failure. To be fair this has probably been on the cards for a while, but disappointing nonetheless as I'd hoped, unsuccessfully, to find a replacement before it happened. The bands had been needing regular adjustment too and were getting near the end of their life, so it wouldn't surprise me to find a cracked drum or two.

Anyway I'd like to find a replacement motor and trans if possible. My car's a LHD vehicle from GA, it has a mid-1925 motor in at present (which is how I bought it) and although I'd prefer a 'proper' year-correct motor/trans an earlier one would certainly be better than none :-)

The catch to this tale of woe is that I live in New Zealand. Obviously I'd prefer to get something that's already in the country, but as much as anything else this post is a 'feeler' for what's available elsewhere too.

So if you're in NZ, or perhaps someone with some experience with shipping such things to my country, and you have a spare motor (with or without trans, LHD or RHD) I'd be pleased to hear from you.

Thanks, Luke.

Thanks for that information Howard.

I've called Nick and left a message on his answer service.

If you don't mind I may contact you for a headsup on how you went about importing your engine. It seems it could be useful info.

Cheers, Luke.

Oops, I've had a busy few days and haven't logged back in until now. sorry,,,

Anyway thanks for responding, I'll try and call you both tomorrow (according to the double-duck it's 0040 in Colorado right so guess you wouldn't appreciate me trying you now, Nick!).

Chris, do you have a telephone number? Perhaps you could email or PM that to me?
