1915/1916 Touring photo - any info available?
In the May/June edition of the NSW (Australia) club magazine, there is a centrefold photo of a 1915/1916 Touring.
The contributor sent the photograph to Tom Bergmann, the magazine editor, in March this year with the accompanying text: "This was sent to me by a friend who has no particular interest in old cars. He doesn't even remember how or when he obtained it. It may be of use to you."
If the first two characters of the number plate are alphabetic (IO not 10), could it be a County Kildare (Ireland) plate?
It’s a pity the sign on the bridge is illegible, even in the high res photo.
Countryside looks Australian.
Right hand drive.
We wonder whether anyone has seen this photo before and has any further information?

Whoops, Steve, thanks for letting me know.
I didn't notice the exclamation mark error status when loading the photo.
The problem was that, while the Mac allows a / (forward slash) in the filename, phpBB does not.
So here it is with a phpBB compliant filename.

The stripe on the body is typical of Victorian Tarrant cars.

Thanks Allan, good clue.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_r ... f_Victoria
refers to cars 1910–1939: nnn·nnn and motorcycles 1910–1953: nn·nnn .
Could that be a Victorian motorcycle plate? Or should the Wikipedia page be slightly tweaked?

Allan is Correct. Body styling looks to be of Victorian manufacture by Tarrant. Early Victorian vehicle registration records are available for a fee by contacting the Federation of Victorian Car Clubs. https://federation.asn.au/
If you can identify the number on the car you should be able to trace the year and owner of the vehicle.

Well, this is a first. I've seen lots of sideways thumbnails, but never an upside-down big picture. Something to do with posting south of the equator?
Anyway, here it is with the big picture right side up, at least on my desktop.

Steve, the original photo is right side up in David's post. Windows vs. Mac, I guess.

Not sure why it went upside down when clicked in phpBB.
It opened in Mac Preview with correct orientation.
Steve, thanks for posting it corrected.

Here is a better photo of the car.
As you can see it is just a Canadian touring,
With the glut of Fords during the war, repainting and covering the seats with matching covers was done to help sell more.
A lot of owners liked having something different, The car is in Victoria so Tarrant's would have supplied it hence the paint design typical of them at the time.

This is the base trim level of Tarrant.
Next level up (Special? ) had full timber bows with brass fittings and scuttle vents, but still the import body.
Deluxe got the full custom body.
Interesting this car has fork mount lights with painted rims.

Interesting too is the canvas top boot, and it looks like it has a canvas top too. You can just make out the bottom of the rear panel under the boot. Many colonial cars had canvas rather than Ford's usual black. I have seen the canvas top listed in parts books for our cars.
