Large drum Rucksell

Post by BlackTinLizzie » Mon Apr 05, 2021 8:26 am

Selling a Large Drum Rucksell 13 39 gears 3to1 ratio.
I got this 15 plus years ago a Hershey and been stored since time to put back in circulation.
Gears look good all clean see photos
Shifter is stiff will need to be cleaned of dried up grease.
One threaded hole for the shifter is helicoiled the other is ok but might need helicoiled some day.

Looks like a good ring and pinion, 13 teeth on the pinion should equal a 3:1 ratio.
Sure wouldn’t take much to go ahead and peer inside....just saying.

Yes, it would replace the big drum differential in your pickup.

BTW, I have no dog in this deal. It looks like a pretty good Ruckstell for that kind of money. Especially with the correct shift lock, the shifter and rod, etc. That said, based on having rebuilt over 70 Ruckstells over the years, I would replace the clutch gear and inspect the triple gears and pins, they are often worn and are cheap to replace. I also put a new bearing in every one. The correct bearing number is 7212 BECBY. Rather than buy them from the suppliers, I buy them off ebay. I prefer American made SKF, which is what the part number is for. List price is close to $200, I just bought 3 for 35 bucks apiece. The bearing and the bronze plate are critical to correct alignment of all the rest of the parts.

If this were closer to me in Montana I would have a check in the mail for it. Hard to find with a set of 3 to 1 gears for that kind of money.

Your mileage may vary. etc.
