Position of tail lamp bracket, 1912 roadster
Looking for information about where exactly to mount my rear tail lamp bracket on my 1912 roadster. Also wondering whether to use wood screws or machine screws with nuts and washers.

Re: Position of tail lamp bracket, 1912 roadster
When I was restoring my ‘14 runabout I researched this very topic. THF Archives said machine screws. I used carriage bolts. Anchored with 2 thick square nuts to the rear (outside). However nothing was said about where to center the tail lamp bracket.

These photos may help.
The rear shot is from a 1912 Commercial runabout that has been for sale on eBay. Close up shows holes where the taillamp bracket would be. Wood screws won't hold the hanging weight or the vibrations. Carriage bolt on the wood side, and square nuts out. The other photo is an original1911-12 touring, and shows the mounting hardware.

Wow, thank you both for the information. I never would have guessed nuts on the outside.

Lamp bracket Installed. My rear panel is not quite the same a the original picture but the placement of the bracket is close to the same.
