Steve Jelf 9/30 AM

Post by DHort » Sat Sep 30, 2023 11:28 am

I spoke with Steve on the phone today. He sounded just fine. We discussed his car, and I let him know that Dallas will be there today to talk about his car. Then we talked about his camera, and I told him maybe he could post some pictures and tell us about his journey trying to get to OCF. He liked that idea. It would be nice if someone could bring him a laptop to see if he can say hello to all of us. I mentioned it was Hershey this week and he said he will probably miss going to Hershey more than missing OCF.

If anyone is heading west after Hershey and can take a moment to stop and see him that would be great. Remember he might be heading to rehab in
Chicago, so might not be in Fort Wayne.

I am with Steve now. We wonder if anybody is close to Chicago that can work with him on getting his computer to the guy that can repair or transfer data to another. I am in my truck at this moment charging his phone. He has no 110v charger with him.

I am very happy to read that Steve is getting better. Hopefully, he will completely recover and be driving a T soon.

I was hoping to run into Steve at Hershey. Maybe next year! Glad he is doing better and at least getting closer to getting back on the forum. Say hello for me if you could.

Ok, I spent around 3hrs with Steve today. He is doing well. Still a ways to go but he is getting there. Thanks to all who offered to help with his computer. I will be shipping it to Steves guy. Then make arrangements to get it in Steves hands. I talked with the nurses today and they are not 100% sure where he will do rehab.

I got his flip phone out today and the charger cord I found in the car. Dang, no 110v adapter. I went and got one so at least he has his phone. It said no service but he has contct numbers.

Funny story, I got out his computer and was looking through everything to find the cords and adapters that I took down. Finally I found a box marked NH parts. I had forgot we used that to put stuff in to take to him.

Steve wants to get the car fixed. I need to look it over and take more photos to see what it needs. I know the body wood on passenger side is in splinters. The sheet metal is not bad but the photos will tell more. The frame and front axle are bent bad. Radiator is crunched. I will look closer tomorrow. I told Steve I would drain any water out of it as it will be getting cold soon. I havent touched the car since I unloaded it until I could discuss things with Steve. I will post photos of the car after I post this with Steves blessing.

The news about Steve’s recovery keeps getting better ! Thank you for the updates. The power of prayer (and good doctors) is awesome. Give him my warmest regards for quick healing…

Im sure this is common sense, but i dont think any of us want to see that video of the wreck, wherever it may be.
Just a 20 year old who listens to 40 year old music, works on 75 year old airplanes and drives 100 year old cars.
The past is only simple because hindsight is 20/20.
