Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe - FOUND and finally pics!!!
For some reason I can't figure out how to post in classified vehicles, so I thought I would just put it here - hopefully that is okay...
I settled on my 26 Coupe that I bought about 2.5 years ago now, I still want an older(17-23, really preferring a 22 or 23) Coupe. For me, it has to run. I am not wanting a truck bed full of parts, I want pretty much an entire car. I really don't want a completely restored car either, but might consider one, just according to where it is and cost. I also don't want a rusted out, gutted interior car and with ALL rotten wood - so trying to explain here, something in the middle of restored and "a bag of bones". Lastly, I know a lot of people on this site have numerous cars and millionaire bank accounts - NOT me at all!!! I have already spent more money on my 26 Coupe than anybody would ever give me for it, which will kill me in selling it to buy preferably a 22-23 Coupe. Lastly, I need to hopefully find a car pretty much in the southeast. I am in Atlanta. Every old Coupe I find is either on the West coast, midwest, or northeast. My budget doesn't have $2000-$3000 to transport it home to Atlanta. So...anybody out there got maybe what I want??? Let me know and thanks in advance for responses and your reading time. Walt Wise

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
Walt, while I was in Minnesota last week valuing my cousins T parts collection for probate, I got a chance to see his 1923 coupe. It’s a pretty nice original car with nice original upholstery. The engine is apart, I think it’s all there with a lot of extra parts. This would make a nice original car without much work. It’s not for sale quite yet, but will be soon . If your interested I can put you in touch with the family.

1922/23 Coupe located in Illinois. This may be everything you didn't want, but thought I would share anyway. Will make a good project for somebody. Car is for sale with clear Illinois Title.

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
Mr. Gugerty,
If your title says it is a 22 or 23, it actually is neither. I am fairly confident it is a 24 or maybe even a 25, but one of those two. Thanks for sharing, but NOT the condition I want, nor the year I want, since I want an "older" coupe(17-23) with the suicide doors.

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
Indeed, the car is titled '22. Some discussion last year on the forum pointed me towards '24. The engine number is from October '23. So probably an early 24 would be more accurate, I'm still learning a lot everyday from this group. Happy Hunting.

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
I would like to change my ad slightly since the first posting, I now ONLY want a 22 Coupe or if it is such a thing as an early 23 Coupe with suicide doors. If there is such a thing as a late 23 Coupe with regular doors, I wouldn't keep it if you gave me one, so obviously NO interest if there even is such a car. To reiterate, ONLY either a 22 or 23 Coupe with suicide doors, nothing else and same condition as mentioned already. Something that has been said about me from people that know me is "he always knows what he wants, he just hasn't learned the acquiring part"! Any leads on what I want are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks for your reading time. Walt Wise in Atlanta, GA

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
I am not sure why, but after investigating a lot today, it appears a lot of these ads on Findclassicars.com are OLD ads, some several years old that even the sellers of some of these cars didn't even know how a car they sold was even put on the website, since they told me they didn't have it posted there. Apparently car ads are "loaded" on there from other sites with whatever personal info the seller had had on sites like Craigslist, Autotrader, or wherever. So at least a couple of cars I had interest in on that site, even though they were too far from me, they weren't for sale currently anyway...
So...STILL LOOKING !!! Thanks again to those assisting in my search!!! Walt Wise

STILL looking for a 22 Coupe or a 23 Coupe - it MUST have suicide doors! I have zero interest in anything else PLEASE look at my original first post to see further requirements. I want what I want - unless I have a "senior moment", I am not settling this time on anything else - been there, done that, and hopefully learned - I hope!!! Walt,
There was a 22 or advertised as a 22 coupe in Vaginnia {spelling} about this time last year. A lady was selling her late father's model T. I used to keep watching the sale but have lost contact with the new forum.

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
Thanks for looking out Mr. Davis, but it was sold. You might have seen it on the old Forum website where it was listed on multiple occasions by multiple people helping the lady sell it. It had a newer replacement engine in it, but they also advertised the original engine was available with the sale too if you wanted it.

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
Well it happened - I had a "senior moment"! I was going to "settle" yet again, spent over $1000 to go get a car I was going to purchase, "in pieces", but this car had multiple "wood issues" that I just could NOT accept. It hurts wasting $1000 and a lot of my time, but in the long run, it was the decision I needed to make - GET THE RIGHT CAR FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So... STILL looking for a 22 Coupe or a 23 Coupe - it MUST have suicide doors! I have less than ZERO interest in anything else. PLEASE look at my original first post to see further requirements. I want what I want - NO more "senior moments"!!! I am NOT settling this time on anything else - been there, done that!!! Thanks for your reading time and any assistance you can provide to help me get what I want. Walt Wise in Atlanta, GA.

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
Mr. Martin,
In a one word answer, NO, but I believe I have found the car I want and have a "gentleman's agreement" to get it, just working out the timing. I can possibly point you in the direction of two cars that might interest you if you don't already know about them. The Model T Haven has both a 1915 and a 1916 Couplet. I wish I had the money to invest in either of them, but maybe one would work for you? Besides those and an ad on this site for pieces of a 1918 that you probably have already seen and know about, that is it. Good luck with your search! As far as my interest in any other 22 or 23 Coupes for sale than the one mentioned above, I always have interest - it just needs to be the right car for me, so anyone can read the posts here by me to understand my criteria. I HAVE LESS THAN ZERO INTEREST IN ANYTHING ELSE! Sorry, couldn't help myself, just don't want a bunch of replies trying to sell me something else - I know what I want and if I live long enough, I will get it someday...

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe
I have been "pinching" myself for a couple of days now since it still is hard for me to believe, but after a five year exhaustive search, on Wednesday past, I bought a 22 Coupe that I believe after some much needed TLC, since it has been in storage for quite some time, will make me very happy. I must have found at least 20 suicide door coupes over the last five years plus of searching, but they were either one or the other(a "bag of bones" to throw in the back of a pickup or what I call someone's "retirement" vehicle - sell this one car I have, then I can retire, since it was grossly over priced - but it was there's and if they can sell it way overpriced, in my opinion, good for them!). I don't think I am an idiot, I realize you can spend many many thousands restoring a Model T, but I am no millionaire that has a fleet of cars, so I had to find a car that not only fit my criteria as mentioned in this ad(post), but one that I wouldn't be "thrown out of my house" - if you can get where I am coming from here?!!!
SOOOOO....I guess I need to forewarn the site here, I probably will be posting several questions that I need help with from people with expertise - especially when it comes to some questions specifically about suicide door coupes. Over the last five years plus, I have learned a lot about Model T's, owning my 26 Coupe and working on it, but I know I may have many questions, so hopefully y'all can indulge me???
Much Thanks to the MTFCA site!!! I have "befriended" many "T" owners already! From time to time, I have posted here items for sale that I had and knew I would never use/need and have yet to sell anything to anyone that wasn't happy when they got it - my motto there, NEVER sell something you wouldn't want or use for yourself. I have also bought items on this site from people and have had great experiences in that arena as well. Lastly, I have met a few here on this site that helped me with my "projects" at there shop/garage where I am so appreciative!!! This is just an all around awesome website!!! Much Thanks to all!!! am very pleased for you. That year is the year of the coupe that got my dad (and me) into the hobby in 1973. It ended up at an auctun in Roanoke, VA about 13 years ago. Always wondered what happened to that thing. Post Pix.

Re: Wanted to Buy, 22 or 23 Coupe - FOUND !!!
Mr. Martin and others, I will try to post some pictures soon. For the last few months, I have been giving it some much needed mechanical TLC. Just last week, it got a new exhaust manifold and my third try of which carburetor I want to run on the car. On Wednesday this week, I finally have it running like the proverbial "sewing machine" - both idle and spark levers all the way up and it clicking over like a pocket watch - just makes me smile! Right now I have the wheels off working on getting them looking better, so maybe some pictures after I get them back on, so give me a couple of weeks. Since I am no photographer at all, I rarely take pictures unless I am selling something. The ONLY pictures I have of the car right now are when I got it home with it on the trailer, still all wrapped up from an 800 mile journey...
