1920 Oval Gas Tank

Post by Jed » Mon Jul 01, 2019 5:44 pm

HELP, Does anyone no where I can get a gas tank for a 1920 roadster (now a pickup). Lang's, Snyder's and Mac's are all back ordered.

We are about to put the new wiring in and would like to drive it down the road.

Sunny skies, Jed

Try Bob's, Birdhaven, or Chaffins.

I just used POR gas tank sealing kit on a 1911 Torpedo tank and am exceedingly pleased with the results. It was one of the worst tanks I have ever seen, and it turned out very well. If you still at least have a crummy tank, this may be an option.

If you are the OP and would like details, feel free to contact me. You need the kit: cleaner, metal prep, sealer...not one or the other...all 3.

I have a decent but rusty one, would be ok if cleaned and sealed.
Probably not worth the price to ship to CA...

Your post says oval tank. You should check as my 20 roadster uses the round tank.

I think this is one of those items that goes to all the dealers from a single source, and your only hope of getting a new one anytime soon would be a dealer who happens to still have one in stock. In addition the the dealers already named, try Smith & Jones and Antique Auto Ranch. If you can't wait for the dealers to start getting tanks again, I think you'll have to go with a used one.
The inevitable often happens.

This has been a big help in getting us headed in the right direction to finally being able to put gas in our T.

Thanks everyone, especially Zark,

Jed
