edit USER NAME? Can it be done?

Post by Bill Robinson » Sun Jan 06, 2019 8:06 pm

I want to change my USER NAME, which is currently "6volt". I cannot find a way to edit it. Another way is to DELETE the user, and re-register- but no way to do that either. Any ideas?

Go to your profile, choose edit settings, then use your password, and then change your user name, that is what it states as below:

Dan- I did as you instructed. At no time was a field available that would allow an edit of my USER NAME. Email address, yes. But not on USER NAME. What did I do wrong?

I tried the same procedure. Would not allow me to edit my user name as well.

I noticed the same.
So I just put my name in my signature.

A few of us have experienced the same thing Bill. You apparently have done nothing wrong. Guess that will be something an administrator will deal with - eventually.

I simply want to edit my user name to reflect my real name that people know me by, rather than have a fictitious code name. I notice that there are many users on this new forum where posters are using their real name rather that a code name. How did they know how to do it?

On all of the forums that I have been on that use this software, the user name can not be edited.
The user name is the identifier for the account and can not be changed.
The only way I know of the change the user name is to delete the account and re-register with a new user name.

BE_ZERO_BE......If it would be as easy as deleting and starting over, I would. It may be me, but I have been unable to find a DELETE button, as stated in my original post. If you know how to delete, please fill me in.

Maybe you could log out, the re-register with another name. Then just don't use the name you don't want to use.

6 Volt,

Account deletion may be solely at the discretion of the Administrator.
Send Chis a PM and ask him.

Yes! It CAN be done if you wish!
Testing. (hit preview). Can't tell (push submit Duane). Let's look.
Works a treat! Here we go!
Click on your username up in the right corner with that little down arrow (you can even click it into a new tab with the right hand button).
Next, click on the user control panel.
Click on the profile tab.
EDIT your first and last names.
Try that. :)

Ahh, I'm happier too! Got mine changed too in the process more to my liking. :)
Per usual, perhaps I got it wrong with what originally asked. Nope. Dumb. I got it worng.
EDITED this post like 40 times and still not perfect. Did you get the info? If not. Holler.
Since I lost my mind mind, I feel more liberated

Bill, I can see that you are Bill! A great feature of this format is your proper full name is displayed at the right hand side of the post. A different user name tells me you are a fan of 6 volt! No real need to change as we can see both names as you post.

At least on my cheap North Korean surplus phone, it's difficult knowing who is who now because on a mobile format it doesn't show all the detailed information like the name block off to the right side. It's going to take some time to figure out all these new user names. Signatures still seem to show.

Even if you don't include your location beside your name, it appears in the little block of info to the right of your post. A good feature.

I emailed Chris and he changed the U/N so those familiar might recognize me, the computer dummy I am... The helpful 'location' of the user is missed. Don't know if there is any way to have that up front. We will muddle through together, just exercise some patience to learn.
