F100 transmissions

I have a '58 ford pickup I'm trying to get back on the road. It has a 312 y block and a 3 spd topload with a Hurst shifter. The input bearing is growling pretty bad and the hardening is worn off the countershaft. From what I gather the toploads didn't come out until '63. It has the big input shaft, short tail shaft and a fixed yoke. Any diehard ford guys that know what year that would be out of? Any help would be appreciated,

I have been doing some homework with the #s I have. Turns out what I have is from a 64' with a 128" wheelbase. I have to find out if I have a wide or close ratio yet. We have a few older yards around so I'll have to start looking,

Billy, good luck with mixing and matching Ford transmissions, engines, driveshafts, rearends, wheels etc., etc. For some reason, it seems that Ford delighted in changing EVERY thing that could have possibly been interchanged, it's just nuts. Back in the early '70's, a friend of mine said he would swap out a six for a V8 in a late '60's Mustang for a friend. He had been doing engine swaps in all kinds of cars from the '30's to the '60's. Everything was different, transmission to engine, transmission to frame, transmission output shaft, driveshafts, mounts, etc.,etc., etc. I NEVER did understand their thinking, still don't. Dave
