I asked my dad to look for a hood in our pile of parts for my friends new Model AA. Our discussion went from the differences between 28/29 to 30/31. My dad proceeded to measure a number of Model A & T hoods. This is what we discovered regarding the length from front to back:
1930-31 ~30-31 inches
1928-29 ~28 inches
1926-27 ~26-27 inches
1917-25 ~25 inches (low 1917-23 low height = 12", high 23-25 =13 1/2"
My dad made a very interesting discovery!

Re: Ford numerology on Model T & A hoods
Matt: According to the Rootlieb catalog, measured along the center hinge, 17-23 T= 24 3/4", 24-25 T =24 3/4", 26-27 T = 26", 28-29 A =27 7/8", 30-31 A = 30 7/16", 32 V8 = 32", 33-34 V8 = 33",
and the pattern ends as 35 V8 = 33". Very interesting Matt.
