Berlin – Nevada, USA
Berlin – in Nevada, not Germany! – became popular in 1897 in the midst of a mining boom. Unfortunately, the industry never quite took off and was essentially abandoned by 1911.
No one stayed around to maintain it or turn it into something else, so it hasn’t changed all the way up until today. At the time of writing, it is part of Nevada State Park. Visitors can explore the area and see what it looked more than 100 years ago.

Wow. Things dont last here in Indiana. Humid weather would leave a pile of red colored dirt where the truck is. The wood would be gone. What a great photo of a past long gone. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Dallas, there is hardly a day in my life I do not think your exact words !
Ma and Pa thought leaving California in the mid-60's for six hundred days of rain
a year in Seattle was a good idea. As a kid, it was all I knew ... the mold, the wet,
the moss. But camping trips to the more interior environs put the seeds in my head,
that there was "another way". Not being the brightest bulb on the porch, it took 30
years for me to wake up one day and realize no one was holding a gun to my head to
make me stay, so I left ! As Model T driving goes, I live in heaven. Old rusty junk piles
can stil be found, full of great stuff, untouched for 80 years or more. My C-cab came
out of just such a heap, out on a ranch on the Scablands.

Thanks, Mario. I like it too ! It is the correct vehicle to visit places like
old ghost towns and other backwater treasures.

Two more views of the Berlin, Nevada 1918 Dodge. Taken while visiting in 2017.
