Hey folks, is it true that New York state didn't issue titles until the 60s? I am wondering if anyone had trouble with their state buying a T from NY without a title?
Thanks,
Jim

Re: New York titles?
The back of the registration has a place to sign the vehicle over. Not notarized, just the signature of the seller and the date. It explains on the back that ny didn't issue titles for older cars. I had no problems with it here in Indiana. Not sure how you would replace a lost registration.

Re: New York titles?
Titles started in 1972 for NY. Prior to that you transfer via the registration which has a provision for that on the back. If you get the registration filled out for the transfer and a bill of sale it should not be a problem. I have transferred cars from NY to Florida that way without a problem. Florida takes the NY paperwork and issues a title. Simple as that !

Re: New York titles?
NY registrations are marked transferrable for pre 73 vehicles, and non transferable for post 73 which are titled.

I bought mine in August out of NY, it transferred to a PA title with no issues.
