Henry Ford bust radiator ornament for sale

Post by Dropacent » Mon Jul 29, 2019 4:51 pm

I’ve always been searching for the elusive Henry Ford bust hood ornament, but great examples have been few and far between. The ones that do surface, show that they did not age or weather well. Recently I was able to get an extremely nice one, and it was a young mans family heirloom , handed down from his grandfather. Not being a model T owner, he decided to cash in on his inheritance. I do believe this original ornament never spent much, if any time on an auto. Little Henry , shown to the left has joined my collection of model t ford hood ornaments.
In making this purchase, I thought I could soften the blow a bit by a limited run reproduction of this great hood ornament. I am only producing 10 of these, they are each numbered and the molds will be destroyed on the completion of the 10th one.
You can see if you look closely at the original , that I have eliminated the artists name on the back of the neck, and also the patent info inside. In place of the patent info, I have placed a number from 1-10. They are also completely cored out, to eliminate some of the weight of the original, and also to distinguish them from the original.
If you would like to reserve one, drop me a line at tmorsher@icloud.com . I’ll ask for payment of $315 , postpaid priority mail to your door. when it’s ready to ship and if you need some time to pay for, as always, no problem, let’s talk.

I’ve had several questions about these. Here are the answers. 1)The threads are cast into the piece, NOT machined. This is very difficult to accomplish. 2) the original artists signature and patent date have been removed. I apply a large number of production inside each one, where it’s not visible. 3) yes, they should screw right on your rad stem. You should use a thin rubber gasket, not supplied. I have several original radiator spouts that are in good condition I test each one on. 4) I know $315 is expensive, but there is actually a huge amount of work to these. I am not making very much on each one. 5) NO, I AM NOT INTERESTED IN SELLING OUR PATTERNS AND MOLDS. THEY WILL BE DESTROYED AT THE COMPLETION OF #10 if you want to do these, FIND an unused original and do what I did. Good luck !

Down to the last few

Post by Dropacent » Sat Dec 14, 2019 11:31 am

Here is a newspaper article about the original artist. This Italian artist was commissioned by HF. I would assume he had some involvement with the rad caps, as his name is prominently displayed on the original. Also,a pic the last of the raw castings before cleanup. Great stocking stuffer for the hard to buy for T owner. Tmorsher@icloud.com
