WTB: Torque Tube

Post by Scott C. » Sat Dec 21, 2019 8:47 pm

I need a torque tube for my 26 coupe. Mine has been broken, welded back together and broken again. Still need to tear down the rear end and see what else I need.

Still looking for 26 torque tube. Hank only has the earlier style. I prefer the later style since that is correct for the year.

What’s the difference. Can you post comparison pictures?

The time frame for the "stepped" torque tube has been debated for some time - it has definite steps in O.D. from approx. midway forward towards the ball.

Here are a couple pictures of the one in my 26 roadster. Right about where that rubber block is, it starts tapering down to a smaller diameter.

A 1926/27 torque tube has multiple steps from the back coming forward. Everything else is the same.

I removed the torque tube from my '26 yesterday. It has a tapered tube like yours, Scott. However, the rear flange on mine is different. Mine is thicker than on a stepped torque tube that I have. The flange also has machined pockets where the bolt heads sit. I don't know if mine is correct for a '26, just different. I'll get a photo of it tonight.

Here is a picture showing both torque tubes. I though mine was the later. Turns out it is the earlier. I thought the early one was straight. Both my 26 coupe and 26 roadster have the early style tube. So, Hank does have what I want!!
