Radiator replacement
I took my radiator to a repair shop for some cleaning and repair and it is time for replacement
I read that flat tube radiator cool better than the round tube
It the cooling of the flat tube that much better that it is worth changing from the original?
Any of the local car shows that I plan on attending are not professionally judged
Any thought are appreciated
Thanks

Re: Radiator replacement
My new flat tube from Berg’s easily handled the summer heat in Houston.

Re: Radiator replacement
I have flat tube radiators in two of my T's. The last one I restored, I used an original. It cools just fine except on a hard pull, and is 103 years old.

Re: Radiator replacement
For a driver, use a flat tube. For a show car use round tube. I have flat tubes on all of mine and they don't need any water pump. It is a long pull uphill to our town and then a Ruckstell hill to our house. On a hot summer day, they get up to the top of the circle of the motometer but don't boil. Sometimes a small gurgle when I shut off the engine for a few seconds.

Re: Radiator replacement
info on Berg's http://www.bergsradiator.com/modelt.html
Flat Tube T Radiators... - are comprised of 4 rows of flat tubes with 8 louvered fin per inch, achieve an efficiency rating of over 85%
Round Tube T Radiators... - have 5 rows of ¼ inch round tubes and 6 fins per inch, are similar to the original Ford radiator
Info on Brassworks https://www.thebrassworks.net/reproductions.html
Flat Tube ...Modern efficient copper core design with 6 fins per inch, 3/4" seamless weld tubes in a staggered array to disrupt airflow laterally
Tubes have 2.93 times the internal surface area of Ford's original design
Round Tube ...Tellurium copper fin core with 6 fins per inch
Round drawn copper tubes that conduct heat 4 times faster than the seamed brass original design
NOTE original style round-tube core if your car is to be judged for shows or if you wish your car to look more authentic for its year of production.
I went with Berg and NO water pump to leak

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.
