Wanted: 18-Z-245-B HCCT Spark Ring

Post by namdc3 » Sat Feb 01, 2020 10:12 pm

I'm proud to have recently bought these two beauties and would like to get two spark rings to help get them back to their former glory. I'd really like to find original rings with the 18-Z-245-B part number in the backside. Below is a photo if my HCCTs and two photos of the ring previously posted by Ron.

An actual original spark ring will be hard to find.
Try Bob Scherzer (bscherzer@juno.com).
He makes a spark ring that can be adapted to the Ford style units.

Thank you, Bob. I've sent him an email; I read awhile back that his health wasn't good and hope that he's well. I hope to find originals but realize that's a long shot. His rings look very nice.

I’m looking for one too but it doesn’t have to be original. My tester is a Weston HCCT. I am also looking for the AMP METER.
Thought I'd join in on the hunt.

Jtt3, can you post a photo of your tester? It will help determine your spark ring style. Bob Scherzer has the above style.

Sure & thanks for any help. The top picture is some of what I have being primed & coated. I’ll paint it when I’m ready to put it together. I’ll use the picture above of what it is suppose to look like and below. If anyone has a wiring diagram that would also be of benefit.

JTT3, I think that’s a Service Station Equipment Company hcct, which uses a similar but different ring. It’s possible the Ford ring would work, though. Bob will probably chime in.

Also, wiring diagram. Several circuits are optional. http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/80 ... 1256789231

The spark ring 3 posts above is what came with my Service Station HCCT.

It is heavier and has wider and deeper V shaped notches.

It is also more difficult to keep the sparks from hopping to the HCCT frame near the coil box.
