Bummer. This does bring something to mind...our cars survived the scrap drives, we will survive this too.

I think most people were expecting this. While it is a disappointment it was done early enough most people are not on the road yet.
I decided last week I was not going so it doesn't affect me a lot but it is going to put a crimp in a lot of people's plans.
We are all going to have to wait and see how this plays out.
They closed the schools in Montana for two weeks beginning today, my daughter at Stanford has been told to return home until further notice. She is moving to Gramma Barbara's in San Jose today. There are students from around the world there, many from foreign countries.

Back to the shop for me, I hope everyone is OK.

I hear you guys. It’s really disappointing when your plans are pulled out from under you. I have a five day workshop schedule for this week and had people coming from all over the US and Europe. We cancelled last Wednesday. Took me a week to prep. Also had a workshop cancelled that I was going to teach in Sicily in June. Gave a full refund to the participants even though some of the money paid for the expenses including my flight.

Rats. Got the rig loaded up and make it to Kingman before they pulled the plug. I knew better but couldn’t help myself. Had to tie the stuff in the trailer down real good for this pic.

Is this country’s reaction to this virus what we have to look forward to now in the future? The CDC estimates that 12,000 people died from the flu between October 1, 2019 and February 1, 2020, or four months. This new virus has been here since at least November of last year, and we have as of this afternoon, 71 deaths in the US.

I will miss meeting my friends and making new friends. I did not get my items all together, so decided two weeks ago not to go. Now it comes to that I would not have had an event to attend. I will get my items togeather this summer and put them aside for Chickasha 2021. See you all there.

Clarification: The coilboxes shown in my post were for interest only, not advertising for sale. They were pre-sales to be taken to Chickasha for pickup there. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

And the hoax continues.
IT IS NOT A HOAX - the virus is real and the outcome is uncertain because it has never occurred before. Having said that, if you live in a rural area it is much harder to envision what might transpire. Maybe this will help; There are 7 people per square mile in Montana as compared to 27,000 per square mile in New York City. So the chance of one person spreading the illness in your area is very low because of the population density. However the speed at which the virus could spread in a large populated area is what this is all about. So the reason you are being inconvenienced is two fold: primarily to slow down the spread of the virus in large populated cities and as a result to lessen the "potential" burden on those Hospitals.
The difference between this virus and the two flu viruses, Influenza A (H1N1) and Influenza B (Victoria) is that there are vaccines designed to protect one from getting the disease as well as antiviral medications to treat them. For COVID-19 there is nothing so far. As of today 8 people in Montana were test positive for COVID-19

Guys, do not underestimate this and do NOT compare with H1N1. Given that most around here is in the danger zone for having to be hospitalized and even in the ICU we should all take our precautions and stop social contact. Stans idea going back to the shop is a good idea :-)
It's not that people will die of this - but it is also the way it happens and the extensive need for care to easy the pain of being sufficated as the lung capacity is heavily deminished.
We will get over it I'm sure, and there will be a lot of opportunities for gathering and hopefully you will all be there when we come to that!

And do not blame foreigners! The massive increase of COVIQ-19 caes in Denmark was danes returning from ski vacation in Austria - roumors says they all where at the same afterski party at a bar where the bartender was ill.
There will be US citizens taken it back home from abroad.

Best regards from a virtually shut own Denmark.

Interestingly we now have 10 cases here in Rochester NY and two are in the hospital two blocks from our house. As of yesterday I am working at home, the Museum where I work is now closed to the public and the head of my department said I should stay home for the next two weeks. I have cancelled visits to my elderly friends in homes just to be careful. The movie house down the street is closed and the restaurants are closing. Living in a city this experience is very different than a very rural area but no one should think they are completely safe from this.

As of today 8 people in Montana were test positive for COVID-19...

THIS is the scary part! As remote as Montana is, how DID 8 people become positvely infected?
Travelers? Or "community spread" with someone they had no idea was infected? See, THIS is
the problem with this, and causing the panic.

Then of course there's the theories this virus was "man made", but I'm not gonna go into a
credible story to support it. Not here.

What we're missing also is the OTHER concern...the world economy. It will not hold up for six months
of this. We're in for some real trouble folks.

In Today's Mobile Society it is very easy for something like this to spread. I thought it was odd to limit travel from China when millions of people pass each other in airports, train stations, bus depots, interstate rest stops etc.. The most amazing thing is that the number of reported cases in the USA, so far, is so low. It is only natural now that testing has begun for those who already have it to emerge. Unfortunately this will be reported as the virus "is spreading" as opposed to "did spread". As far as one of the cases in Montana - "Montana did have a previous COVID-19 case assigned to it, though that 70-year-old woman who lives part-time in Lake County had not been in the state since November. The case was diagnosed in Maryland. It's typical for cases to be assigned to the person's state of residency." So the National News Media leaves out pertinent facts about whats gong on - has to do with filtered thinking (They focus on the negative detail while ignoring all the positive aspects of a situation)
