Scat stroker rod inside diameter?

Post by Les Schubert » Tue Mar 17, 2020 7:52 pm

I want to use a set of Scat stroker rod shells. They fit a 1.5” crank pin. I’m trying to find out what is the correct rod big end inside diameter?
Doing some careful measurements, I’m guessing that it is 1.610”. But I REALLY hate guessing at something like this!!
Does anyone have a set of these rods not installed and could tell me the answer?
I suppose I can phone Scat and hopefully they will tell me. The shell manufacturers website is not helpful

Skat will grind to your specs on the rod journals and mains for a small fee. They did a couple of odd balls for me.

Less
I get 1.625” bore on a stroker Scat rod for inserts.

Still maybe be best to call Scat or King bearings

You can babbitt them too. I babbitted these for a customer last year. They are now in a OHC Fronty.

Guys
Thank you for your input. I just got off the phone with Austin at Scat and there specified size is 1.6249”!! So the 1.625 is pretty darn correct!! We will be honing these on a rod resizing machine so now have a great target size!
I am installing this in a set of Townsend aluminum rods on a crank with 1.5” crank pins that is stock T stroke. So using Scat or A rods is not a good option (need the 7” C-C).
I appreciate your input
