It seems it has been on some journey of note. Would those be Ford buildings in the background?
When did I do that?

Yes, is the one of the prototypes or first assembled new Model T, Henry rode in it for testing. Mud still on the car. Piquette Ave. plant

This photos has been identified many years ago as showing the Model T prototype outside the Piquette plant after Henry Ford and a couple others took the car to northern Wisconsin, purportedly on a hunting trip but doubtless also to see how the car performed and identify any bugs that needed to be worked out. According to Trent Boggess, one of those bugs was the frame's front end spacer, which was redesigned after the trip; it was made larger and was attached to the front corners of the front cross member with three rivets rather than just two.

Rich, you would have loved to have seen my Lizzie - “rode hard and put up wet” since last fall. I figured that was a little too much “patina” and got shamed into giving her a spit-bath yesterday. She cleaned up awfully shiny, I kinda miss the dirt . . .

DONE AS ONLY YOU CAN , RICH, I'M WITH YOU ON THE DIRTY MODEL T'S. SHE IS LOVELY, GROWING UP IN HARTLAND VT, WE HAD A MODEL A PICKUP, THE MUD WAS JUST BELOW THE LOIN CLOTH ON A TEN FOOT INDIAN, AS DAD ALWAYS SAID, ONE NIGHT COMING HOME IN FROM WORK I WAS GRINDING MY WAY THROUGH THE MUD, THE FORD WAS DOING A GOOD JOB ,ITS 3/4 MILE TO HOME FROM THE MAIN RD, THERE IS A 90 DEGREE TURN AND THAT'S WHERE ALL THE WET FROM THE HILLS WOULD HOLE UP, WELL KNOWING THIS I PULLED THE THROTTLE TO THE BOTTOM IN SECOND GEAR, I COULD FEEL IT SINKING THE FURTHER WE WENT, WHEN IT STOPED I TRIED TO BACK OUT, IT WAS THERE TO STAY, THIS WAS 1130 PM, MUD WAS UP TO THE RUNNING BOARDS THINKING I WOULD GET IT OUT IN THE MORNING I WALKED HOME, BEING MARCH IN VT THE WEATHER CHANGED HOURLY, WELL IT FROZE , THE FORD HAD WIRE WHEELS, AND THE MUD OZE'D THROUGH THE SPOKES AND THERE SHE SAT TIGHT AS THE BARK ON A BEACH TREE, WHEN I GOT IT UN STUCK THE CLUMPS THAT WERE FROZE IN THE WHEELS, I WORKED MOST OF THE DAY PICKING IT OUT. WISH I HAD A PICTURE OF IT, WE LIVED FIVE MILES FROM THE TAR, SO OUR CARS ALWAYS HAD A LAYER OF MUD . STILL LIVE ON THAT ROAD TODAY BUT IT GOT FILLED IN WITH THE STONE WALLS AND SOME GOOD DIRT OVER THE YEARS, SO ITS STILL A BIT SOFT THIS TIME OF YEAR BUT I WILL NEVER FORGET HOW IT WAS, KEEP SAFE.
