Original 1914 Brass Radiator with Ford Logo on Back

I used this original round tube radiator on my own car. I replaced it because it did not handle the 90 degree temperatures in Florida very well.
The tubes and fins appear to be tight. The original top tank is in good condition and makes a nice appearance. However, the bottom tank is steel, has been repaired, and will probably need more repairs. Please review pictures closely. $400 plus actual shipping charges. Possibly I'll be in western PA in the summer and can bring it with me.

Rich, I doubt that the bottom tank is steel. The rust showing is likely from steel supports at each end and from the cast iron outlet on the bottom. The steel support straps at the ends are spot welded to the bar which goes form one side to the other through the core. These have to be bent aside when the bottom brass tank is fitted. A magnet would tell you for certain.

It's hard to tell, but I think your radiator is a genuine Ford replacement radiator made after 1916.

Allan and Larry, thanks for the information. The bottom tank is steel. And I agree with Larry that it is probably a Ford replacement from in the day. That is probably the reason why there is no number on the back plate.

Well, I live and learn. Who'd have thunk they'd ever fit a steel radiator tank? However, I am not surprised. Most low black radiators have pressed steel top outlets, which rust, amazingly. So they changed these to a brass pressing on the high radiators. At least I thought so. When repairing Henrietta's 1925 high radiator, after cleaning off the wound around string and it's tar coating, I discovered that it had a steel outlet. So I cleaned up a brass one off another radiator, only to find it had a smaller flange where it mated to the top tank! A brass intermediate plate was needed to adapt it to the original radiator.

Radiator serial numbers. I read somewhere that Ford stopped using radiator serial numbers by 1916. Did you put a magnet to the bottom tank?

I did put a magnet on it, and it stuck! It's definitely steel.
