1911 torpedo floor mats

Post by R.V.Anderson » Thu May 14, 2020 2:02 pm

For those few folks who didn't get one the first time around but may still want one: the mat manufacturer has just told me that we can get a total of 3 or 4 more good mats at the most from our mold. If additional pours beyond that number are attempted there will be quality issues. So here is the absolutely final call. As soon as we get those 3 or 4 folks, I will place the final order and that will end the run unless a new mold is made, which is unlikely. As one can imagine, the mold is large and takes up a lot of room, so they'd like to squeeze the last few out of it and then dispose of it. The price of the rubber compound has gone up but these last few will be the same price as the first 37: $425 plus shipping if needed. Please PM me at rvmodeltATnetsyncDOTnet. Thanks.

I have one of R.V.'s mats in my 1911 torpedo, and it is awesome. Thanks for producing this quality mat! Russ Furstnow

OK; we have one firm order. As soon as we get 2 or 3 more we will proceed and then that will be it.

Well Mack, the problem is that the mold is silicone, and is only good for about 40 pours before they deteriorate from the heat and the effects of the rubber chemicals, and then you run into quality issues. $425 is crazy money for a mat as it is, and even that was only achievable by using a low-production mold.

Must not have been; no takers. OK; the curtain's closed and the lights are out. I will buy the final mat myself so that when that last torpedo owner finally crawls out from under his rock and hears about them for the first time it will be ready for him. For, oh, about fifteen hundred :D

Seriously, thanks everyone. The project could not have been done without y'all.
