Wheels and Reagan Press

I've read a ton of posts about the Reagan press and the links to the plans all went to fun projects website which is no more. Does anyone have the plans handy? I could post it in the Photo Album section so the next victim has access...

Short of that, today after a quick trip to the hardware store, I mimicked as best I could the functionality as best as I could tell from the videos and pictures. I think it'll work just fine.

The spokes are stained and varnished and drying tonight, and I should be able to press them in on Sunday with any luck. This really is a big job. Lots of prep work to get to the goal. As an experienced woodworker, I will say I'm quite impressed by the quality of the Hickory spokes I got from Langs. A little sanding and they were good to go.

It's been a busy winter. I even got the Laycock overdrive installed. The 12v inverter works great to power the solenoid, and I get a cellphone charger for the wife as a bonus.

Jeff, I have never done it with the brake drums on the hub.

Then it'll be a first. No reason not to. And these safety hubs are already put together. That was a major project itself.

I made this press when I responded my wheels. It worked great on the rear hubs but the hun is longer and would not seat on the 4x4 blocks. I had to put 2x4 on top to get the height .

I looked on the Texas T (Birdhaven) website. They do have a link to free downloads, but they haven't yet migrated John Regan's old download files to the site. I sure hope that John's files aren't lost!

John, how about talking to Birdhaven about migrating your old files over, it would sure be appreciated! :)

What George said. You will need more space for a front wheel. See my photos here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18850.

Just looked at my post on the front hubs. I see I should have checked spelling before posting.

An informative thread on using the “Regan Press”. Lots of useful tips:
