I have a double contact plug with metal sheath, think it is how some were made by different manufactures. I was thinking timer ring was for a crystal timer, but guess not. http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/11 ... 1273895184

The plug is typical Ediswan type, with the dual in-line nubs to twist and lock in the socket. Bayonet style.
These plugs could be had in rubber (plastic today) plug or metal banded.

The metal band holds up better, but cost more in the day. Used mostly for plugging to sockets for trouble lamps or dash lamps.
