Coil Test Tube Ball Bearing Thingy

Somewhere I read the article on how to build this and cannot find it now. I saw one in action at the homecoming and didnt take time to ask about it. For some reason I want to make or purchase one. Anyone have any leads? I dont know the correct name of the thing to do a search.

PS, I am a control electrician and thats why the interest in the odd stuff.

got one that was missing tube found that a rain gauge tube works fine. use glass marble not ball bearing.

A Test Tube works great for a glass replacemnet.

If anyone does not have a LeJay manual, you need to get one. Lots of info!
That is where I learned to rewind generator armatures. Has info for all types of early auto electrical. You will be surprised what you can make out of a T generator or starter. Dan

the fuse Is a good addition. when I got mine the points were welded together and the springy part witch the ball hits was burned in two. had to make a new one. a rain gauge tube is about the same length as the coil box looks neat except for the numbers.

The "fuse" is actually the glass from a fuse with two electrodes and a spark gap inside.
In addition to the three neon light bulbs, it is an visual display of the spark when the coil fires.
