How do you replace the small studs on the ring carrier that hold the trust washers?

I center punch & drill successively larger thru holes. Before I get to the pin's o.d. it releases & spins. Pick out the chips. Be careful to not drill into the body any deeper than originally. Before putting in the new pins, confirm by measuring, that the pin will end up @ the height. If you dont hit it right, get the drills back out.

Drill the center and use a small e-z out to twist them out- works pretty well and no chance of damaging the carrier. The press fit is not that tight.

I've used the same method Donnie Brown used (In Dan's post) #10-32 screw to pull them out. I've done two rear axles that way with no issues.
The pins i purchased back then were 2 thousandths smaller than the originals and had no press fit. So I made mine on the lathe out of 5/16 bolts the same diameter as the originals .282". Also if you need to add a shim under the steel plate you can make the pin a little longer for better engagement. Bill Coyle
