I put the 22 Touring body on the chassis today and noticed the starter switch with the extension on it is not high enough to extend thru the floorboard. Can someone post a picture of the starter switch mounting and how it comes thru the floorboard? Thanks, Art

Art, do you have the switch mounting plate in the frame rail or on top of it? I believe it goes on top, and that will give you more length in the plunger.

The mounting plate is mounted under the top frame rail with the switch mounted to the bottom of the plate. Art

OK. That is not the standard mounting with which I am familiar. Both the switch types we have in Australia, those with bent over tangs on the cover or the two screw covers, are mounted on top of the plate. Sounds like you have some kind of replacement item.

Here is the best picture I have of the switch before It was taken off. I put it back the same way. If the switch plate was mounted in top of the frame it might just correct the problem. Art

Seeing the pictures in the one link, is what I was thinking. When mounted under the frame rail, there was a jog in the bracket. When mounting on top, was flat. Is this 100%, probably not but might be good rule of thumb.

I had a similar problem on my '25. I wanted to use the early design switch that is held together with two screws. When installed correctly in the car, it wouldn't quite reach through the floor. I put in a later design which has four tabs. I'll bet if I tried to bend those tabs they might break off? At any rate I found a NORS switch, which has been on the car for ten years.
