U&J carburetor mystery part

Has anyone seen this U&J part before? It is a sleeve for a dash/firewall control rod. Someone had installed it on a 1914 speedster that Im working on. They had run a Model A mixture rod thru it to control a Model A carb that was on the engine when I got the car. I have never seen this part before.

The little tube is 2-3/8 inches long and has a 1/4-inch hole in the tube. A 26-27 control rod fits it perfectly. I have installed a NH carb with the 26-27 style choke/adjust rod, and by moving this bracket for better alignment, it will work great. I will have to shorten the 26-27 rod since the 14 has no dash and it will mount to the firewall.

Yes it is a U and J carburetor dash mounted choke control minus the knob and shaft.

Ed, Thanks for the photo and the link. The original rod Stan shows and explains in the link let's me know how it works. Now I think I will replace it with something else for the speedster. I have a good U&J it needs to be with. Thanks again
