Looking for any information on the Ames 5 passenger bodies. Does anyone know how many were made? Any other interesting info?

This booklet discusses the Ames history with paragraphs on the Cloverleaf and 5 Passenger models.
It doesn’t include production numbers.

I’ve seen two, both touring, both late twenties vintage with front bucket seats that sit at an angle. The seats set at an angle to the dash and steering when. Got to be weird to drive. But very unusual for sitting on a model t frame!

If that is really a 1916 it's uncanny how much it looks like a 1926 including the windshield. The radiator looks similar to a Model A and the fenders look like mid 1920's.

I can't help but notice how much it looks like a Maxwell. 1915 had Maxwell 4th behind Ford in sales.

The building where they were built in Owensboro, Ky is still there!

I have the radiator shell shown on the touring in the second picture. The shell and apron are one single piece. If anyone needs one it is available.

The tan Ames touring in the above pictures was owned by Gary Hylton in Prarie Village KS. I believe one of Gary's sons owns the car now.

Thank you everyone. Great info and links. We are working on the one posted above from the Lucky auction. We’ve found some good info on the speedster and cloverleaf bodies but the info is more sparse on the 5 passenger. Thanks again!

You might contact Bill Barth in Colorado. I think he did quite a bit of work on Gary Hylton's touring car over the years.
