I have been asked when did Hayes commence manufacturing the accessory Wire Wheels. I suspect
It was prior to the introduction of the starter motor era as examples of the non demountable
Wheels have been seen.
Thanks in advance

The pre demountable rim Hayes wire wheels were in fact also demountable. They were center demountable as the wheel was made to be taken off the hub. A matter of semantics but good to get it right as there were truly non-demountable wire wheels in the early days. Their wheels did not come off the hub nor did the rim come off the wheel. You had to fix a flat tire on the car just as you would have to do on all pre 1919 Model Ts.
This is an emblem for the earlier style Hayes wire wheels.
