Can any one give an explanation about the styles of open and closed exterior Model T door handles from 1908 to 1927?

Generally the open cars have outside door handles until late '12. Then latch handles extended out the top of the door or later on the inside of the door.
Closed cars have door handles on the outside and inside since there are windows.

Then there was the stirrup handle used on the early Coupes and Centerdoors.

Im also curious about styles used for different years.
I recently added a number of handles to my collection thanks to ModelT Matt. Some are similar to what Rich Eagle posted above.
I presume the top row are newer, maybe Model A?
I would also like to know if anyone has seen the curly handles in the second row, far right.

Yes to top row - one with key in the center is for the rumble seat or trunk lid. I believe the fancy ones are Model A Fordor Sedan.

In the first post one of the handles look exactly like one I had on a 31 Model A Phaeton many years ago. I had an extra handle and I used it for the parking brake handle on a 67 Dodge dart, which came with a plastic handle which would break if you pulled it on hard to hold the car on a hill. It never broke after I put the Ford handle on it.

I was able to find out on the Coupes.
1919-1920 - Had Bail or loop style handles.
1921 - Had "T" style handles.
1922-1923 Had "L" style Handles.
I have been unable to find any reason for the changes.
I feel Ford saw the changes as improvements.

I would suspect the changes were to save costs as with many other changes Ford made.
I particularly like the Bakelite covered handles with the nickeled ends.

I will agree as time went onward into the Model T production.
Changes were made to make the part less expensive to produce.
This made the cost of building the car less expensive and that could be pasted onto the consumer to purchase the Model T at a lower price.
I would think the earlier handles that were cast took longer to produce and more costly.
Lots of changes were made during production.
It all makes sense Henry was very sharpe !
