I am going to build a cab for my ‘19 ton truck and was wondering if anyone knows a way to move the brake lever over to the left 6’’ or so? The truck also has an aux transmission and although l can create more leg room for my 6’4’’ body squeezing my legs between the brake lever and the trans shifter pretty tight. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Here is how I did it on my speedster. You can lengthen the cross shaft or make a new one. The using tubing standoffs and carriage bolts mount the ratchet out farther. The lower bracket was fabricated.

David, if you are building your cab freestyle to no particular design, you have the opportunity to optimize your driving and seating position. Your 6' 4" frame can be well accommodated by shifting the seat assembly and backrest to the rear somewhat. If the cab is open, access is even better. My son's open cab 1/2 ton lorry poses no problems and the wide door and setback seat on my 17 shooting brake make entry easy. if you mock up your cab seating position first, you may find there is no need to shift the handbrake.

You can also move the lever back so you don’t have to reach so far forward to use it.

Lever extensions are also available

I have put hand brake extensions on several height challenged customers cars, it really seems to help. I also have put an extension on the speedster as we moved the seats backwards, it works great.

There is a similar problem with center door sedans. I'm 6'3", and I've always had trouble figuring out which side of the brake lever to put my leg!
