On researching valve spring seats on the forum I note that there are several doscussions relating to the poor quality of the repro valve spring seats and the comment: "only use NOS"! Okay, where do I get the NOS ones?

Try first by making a call to the vendors that have lots of used or original parts, Bob's Antique Auto, or Lang's Antique Auto Parts.
Next place an classified free adv. for a set, you might get them that way. Lots of good used ones are out there too, ask for a pile of good used and sort, most have very little wear, some might have cross pin grooves, but cull those away.

Haven't found the replacement new ones to be of a poorer quality for several years.

The major problem inside the last 15 years was the pins more than anything.
Of course, many hobbyists and some engine builders don’t know to turn the spring in the block until the keeper rests level... Failure to do this might result in some odd wear and other “unusual” issues.

Use to find them at swap meets when folks would have cans of T parts to sell. Pretty common to usually find good ones.

What is wrong with used ones? I've never seen a worn out one yet!

A few years back i decided to do a complete valve job including new valves, springs, caps and pins. Shortly after, i read here about the questionable spring caps that were causing problems and was worried about it myself. Not sure how long the bad batch was in effect, but i have checked mine on occasion, and it all seems fine so far. Here's an older thread that discusses this problem. Hopefully it has been addressed and all is well.
