Let us know how it works. A little baking soda in water from time to time will neutralize the acid. Just don't get any inside the cells.

If you are using the correct battery box, all you need is a coat of black paint!

Help me learn .... is all this required for an "original battery box" configuration? Found info that you made them

Also found this link with some drawstrings
http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/29 ... 1205077586 Is it correct (except for the bottom seams). Material used, thickness etc I need to one - have a repro lid

What original left out of his brief reply is if you have the correct battery box AND LID, the hold downs never come in contact with the battery. They hold the lid down.Hence no need for any special finishes.
That sad, running with a battery box lid makes it difficult to get at the terminals if an urgent need arises.

Here is the battery box and lid in my 23 runabout. One before the body was installed and also with the body installed and the deck hatch removed.

Guess nobody remembers the old put a few pennies on the battery top to draw that corrosion away. Of course with the newer better sealed batts it isn't necessary. How about cutting "washers" out of an old Fedora soaking them in oil and putting them on the batt posts before installing the cables to also prevent corrosion? "What's a Fedora Grandpop"?

I had no idea that those battery boxes or lids existed until now. Mine didn't come with one for a 1922 body. I just put a piece of plywood down cut to fit according to a plan someone on the forum gave me and dropped the battery in.
