Did not do an amperage test on the bench,
My thinking ( maybe not correct) is if the generator is not producing any voltage , a amp test will not tell me much

Measured from the floor to the top of the cushion,
It is 13 1/2”
Plus when you sit on the seat it does not “sag”
Two things wrong, the seat is too high and is too hard,
what to do?
It would not be a simple task cut down the seat support frame.

for the large ball bearing, this is the one designed to accommodate a radial load ?

Re: Changing a Ruckstell axle tube
The non Ruckstell axle tube is the same diameter as the OEM Ruckstell tube . The main difference is the non Ruckstell tube is longer. Not a huge job to shorten it.
It does take a lot force in a hyd press to insert the tube.
I made rivets and installed them hot.
Happy with the way it turned out.

Maximum diameter of the main bearing cavities
Wondering how far can you bore out the main bearing saddles, on not effect the process of pouring Babbitt?
The concern is if you expose the bolt holes the molten Babbitt will leak out

Re: Read main bearing cap thrust Babbitt thickness
I have the bearing caps made up. I had planned on having about .050 “ of Babbitt on the rear thrust surface, however it’s looking like about .150”
The final will depend on outcome of the crankshaft grind

Read main bearing cap thrust Babbitt thickness
What is the best thickness for the Babbitt on the thrust faces on the rear main cap? Making a set of bearing caps to accommodate a Chevy crankshaft. Let’s just say that some of my calculations were wrong, and the cap is a bit undersize in the length direction. Wondering how thick the Babbitt can be ...

Tobin Arp TA 14 set up
Today’s project is get the Tobin Arp line boring machine operating. With the operating instructions in hand, most of the steps are pretty self explanatory. Untill it gets to the section on securing the block to the parallels, It says to clamp to a stud at each end of the block. Move the parallels ou...

Blockley tire wear
Thinkin About ordering a set of Blockley tires for my 26 Tudor (450-21) I understand that Blockley is fairly new in the tire manufacturing business. Does anyone have an idea of how they wear? My last set (Universals) likely have 8 - 10K miles on them and they are done. Pretty disappointing Dave Eddie

Anybody out there using their T to transport a bicycle or bicycles ? Thinking of adapting a rack for two bikes to the rear of our 26 Tudor. Not sure if utilizing the spare tire rack is the way to go, or would it be best to come off the frame. We plan on doing some touring but thought it would be nic...

Re: 26 cylinder head minimum thickness
Personally I think I would purchase a high compression cyl head before I would modify the Chevy pistons by adding a dome to them. It may work just fine but I would likely loose sleep worrying about it.

Re: 26 cylinder head minimum thickness
Kerry, The chevy pins are .850" dia. TXGOAT2, relatively simple to check for valve clearance to the combustion chamber, place a spot of putty on one intake and exhaust valve, install the head with out a head gasket, turn the engine over a couple of revolutions. Remove the head and measure the thickne...

26 cylinder head minimum thickness
Anyone know the maximum amount of material that can, or has been removed from the late model cyl head? It seems the chevy pistons are a pretty close match for the chevy rod...

Re: Welding connecting rods
I have experience with this, as I had a small engine shop for a number years. Briggs & Stratton used the aluminum rod design without a bearing on most of their engines up to 28 hp. These engines single and twin cylinders are governed at 3250 rpm.It was not uncommon to see them with 400 hrs on the me...

Re: Chevy crank into a T block
Yes, the reasurch I have done using the centre main is the standard, the thrust surfaces on the Chevy crankshaft are on the centre main not the rear as in the model T.
I used a combination of a taper and heat shrink to install the rear flange.

Shannon, the thrust bearing will be the centre one, this will be part of the modifications to the T block to accept the chevy crank.

Re: Tire wear indicating mileage
Yes, rotating T wheels is important, as mine were starting to wear I noticed the rear tire had noticeably more wear than the front. At the time I was a bit surprised at the amount of difference, until I considered that the front tires on a T have a pretty easy life, they are not even tasked with any...

Thanks, I’ll take it that mileage will typically be from 8000 - 10,000 miles.
This helps as the car was restored when the current tires were installed.

Wondering if there is a general consensus regarding tire wear by mileage? I have a 26 Tudor that is due for a new set of tires. These are 21” Universal brand.
