Need Help with id of Side Lamp Brackets

I am trying to id the side lamp brackets on this 1914 Touring I recently acquired. I have gone through all of my reference materials and can't find a match to the brackets. Maybe aftermarket accessories? The car is a late August 14 build with a Hayes body. The side lamps are Victor Model 2. Thanks in advance for any help. 14T.jpg 14bracket.jpg

I'm pretty sure that is an IHC (International Harvester) side lamp bracket.
It looks like the sidelight brackets on my father's 1910 IHC Model F Roadster below (click twice the photo for biggest enlargement). The same brackets were used on the IHC Auto Buggy and IHC Auto Wagon (high wheelers).
On my father's IHC, they are fastened to the...

Can someone help with the size and location to redrill the 4 th main oil hole, measurement from shoulder would be good. Trying to finish an engine my Dad built for me before he passed away. I can’t see any trace of the hole in the shell he had re babbited. Thanks
Last post
The hole is in the middle of the collar, about 3/8 with an oil cut forward & aft to lube a larger surface of the shaft. (but short about 1/2 from the output shaft end)
I also caution you that your indicator in not in the correct place for centering.
Only the narrow machined area next to the flange face is correct for perfect centering.

Well, the last Model T of my more than 30 year hobby has left with a shipper to its new home. What started out as the first car I bought actually turned out to be the last one I fully restored. Issues with the point set is probably the commonest source of trouble with coil units aside from proper adjustment. Points can be filed to remove minor pitting and corrosion, but the actual contacts consist of a steel base with a platinum overlay. Nasty timer.... Clean it up, then try using Marvel Mystery Oil. Apply oil frequently as Ford recommended. One member suggested drilling a small hole in the lower part of the timer to allow oil and grunge to escape. That sounds like a good idea to me, since it would prevent an accumulation of gummy wear particles and fouled oil.

There has been various interpretations of the accident that killed Ken Meek. Blame was placed on a broken shock absorber perch but evidence suggests that it was broken in the accident and not the cause. Too much speculation has been placed on the broken parts after the accident and not how they may have failed during the accident. Not to mention a...

Early road work and fixing Model T flats

Here’s an interesting newspaper article about early road work in the Model T era close to Waco, Texas. It gives a clue about old car owners and the accepted nuisance of fixing flats. We can only imagine the hassle of going to town and being dressed then having to get out and fix a flat. Evidently road maintenance was still being done by mule power.
Last post
When my dad was eight years old his family moved from South Georgia to central Florida, a trip of about 350 miles. The car was a new 1924 T Model. What was surprising to everyone and almost unbelievable, they made the whole trip without a flat tire. Almost unheard of in those days.

This conversation comes up every few years. I’ve seen both types of back panels on supposedly factory pick ups.
I wonder if Ford would make two separate back panels, when one would work. Seems opposite of Henry’s way of thinking.

Asking for a friend If a fellow was to find an all original 13 runabout actual barn find what would you think the body would be worth? It has a little rust through in one corner but the wood and everything else seems solid. I'm trying to work a deal and It's taken apart. I will probably part it out. What do you guys think?

Since the subject here is 1913 Runabout, I have and extremely original 1913 Runabout that I restored not long ago. Every piece of wood in this car was put in at the factory, except the firewall. I bought an exact copy from Jon Anderson not long ago, but have not installed it.

Several can be found on-line, obvious from the 30's or so, as a promotional by Firestone.
Perhaps sold or maybe just image items that Firestone dealers kept in their store fronts. Lid recess held matches.
Also you can find rubber ash trays with the glass tray molded within a Firestone tire, only miniature.

The most common modification I see in early photos includes electrified gas lamps. Maybe 40% of early brass Fords were equipped with them, Ford dealers stocked the lamp conversation sets and of course would happily install them, since it was a profit item. Customers were happy too,...

I know the rollers on the pins can develop flat spots and stop rolling.

My opinion; Many prefer the one with pins, long nose, because it allows them to preselect which function the unit is going in to. The long nose one also has more value. The rollers are hardened so should not be an issue for a long time if worn ones are replaced.

Here is a photo of a World Series parking lot in the late teens. Must have been a rush to see the game! Supposedly it’s in Boston for the first series game of 1917. Bet they had a hard time leaving!

Looking to familiarize myself with the Model T generator. Picked this one up off the classifieds and was wondering what the piece sticking out the back is used for. Looks like a quick way to add a ground but I am guessing. 4567C09A-F762-43C9-A9B6-9F5232D1609E.jpeg iam sure someone will know on here.

Hello All, I will (eventually) need to be putting new tires onto my Grandfathers 27 runabout with wire wheels. It currently has Garfield 4.40/4.50 - 21 from 2002 on it. They have very little wear and the car was stored in a garage out of the weather during all this time. One of the tires has some slight cracking on the sidewall, but the others...

Ruckstell axle question.

First post
I have a left rear wheel wobble on my 1926 Roadster. It has a Ruckstell AND Sure Stop disk brakes AND floating rear axles. Is the actual left rear axle a special one or is it a stock one? The only thing I've done is changed the wheel with another on and It's not a bent wheel. The wheels are powder coated large steel spokes. Thanks, bobt
Last post
Unless it has been hammered on at some time to dislodge a stubborn wheel, the axle has a centre drilling. You can visually check this by running the car while it is securely jacked up. If the centre runs truly your axle is not bent. The wheel/adaptor mix may well be the problem, especially if an original wooden spoke wheel provided the donor hub....

Amongst all the other projects... not sure why I felt the urge to make this...
I had a couple bad numbers along the way, so this one isn’t perfect or finished... but will correct on the next one. This one is for a size AA-B, and is just about identical to the original.
One piece at a time I’m getting closer to a complete pair of S-B downdrafts...

Rear head bolts another fix

I had to replace the head gasket that failed on my 26 RPU, in replacing it there is always those two rear bolts you can't get a torque wrench on. Well I found a cure at Harbor Freight, a 3/8 drive torque wrench with a very thin flex type head. It gets in where I couldn't with any of my normal torque wrenches. I don't usually get tools from H.F....

On a trip to Spokane once, I bought a Proto beam type torque wrench from a roadside stall selling all sorts of mechanics stuff. When the local machine shop was having their annual calibration of theirs, I have mine included. The tester thought it was a joke, till it pulled under two pounds at 100 pounds. he was amazed, and I was delighted. It was...

Was driving down my neighbors driveway.... which has a couple dips and crowns on the asphault.
Speed was maybe 5-7 mph and all the sudden the front end started to shimmy side to side, like the front wheel were wobbling.
I slowed down and this allowed for the T to correct itself.
Since this was my third time driving her... I'm not sure if this is...

There is a Stevens Front axle tool on the classifieds. Not mine just passing on information.
That's certainly a very nice one too!
Has it been determined that this type of repair is needed for this axle?

Mr. Original, 1/0 is correct for the Electric 1919 to 1927 Model T.
2/0 was correct for the very early Model As, but they soon went back to the 1/0 cables.
I have always wondered, if when they doubled the engine horsepower, they thought they had to double the battery cable size to have an efficient starter.

Yes, originally to the side, but the way new bulbs are made you will get a left right shift instead of up down when changing from dim to on. My friend Bill Robinson and I made a template to move the adjusting screw to the 12 o'clock position so the lights work correctly with the new bulbs. To fill the original hole we just used a machine screw so...

My 1915 tourer came with a blacksmith made spare tyre carrier. Two pieces of flat iron were drillled and bolted in place with the rear spring U bolts. The irons were formed left and right and twisted to accept a half circle cradle of lesser strength flat iron, which was riveted to the flat iron arms. The spare tyre was simply strapped to the...

A friend in USA told me that the HCCA rules are responsible for the number of 1916 cars being fudged into 1915 models. Another lamented that his 1917 Apperson, identical to their earlier cars was also a victim of those same rules.
