Matt... I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. You're not the first person to do something like that, and you certainly wont be the last. I've seen guys do far worse! 😊

Re: Inner bearing race pressed on spindle?

Matt... I get $275 for a set when I provide the cores. I start with NOS cups and cones and give them a mild grind to remove the imperfections, followed by polishing. New balls are provided as well. I'm pretty much out and will be scouring every bin to find some useable cores at Hershey!

Scott is right, they're not easy to come by. I just finished grinding and polishing a set to give to Larry Smith tomorrow. Try to save those bearing parts when you can.

Re: Hard starting: I'm out of ideas.

Steve... it may sound goofy, but have you checked the battery? I had the same problem with my 15 touring this year. After checking everything, I put a volt meter on the battery and found it at 5 volts. Now, I know the cars are designed to start on 6 or so, but everything considered, age, wear, state...

Re: A "90 degree" brass Holley G??

George.. I assume so. I've heard of folks having good luck with the NH on the early Maxwells and the G is a good one too. I also have two of the factory Maxwell carbs. I can get a nice low idle with it but sometimes when I accelerate it pops through the carb and stalls. I've also been told that they...

A "90 degree" brass Holley G??

Does anyone know what this originated from? It's an early brass G with the entrance and exits 90 degrees to each other. I bought it as a solution to the early fuel mixer used on my Maxwell. Sure am curious as to what it came off of originally.

For Sale: Victor Carbide Generator

Up for sale is a very nice 13/14 Victor generator. It is complete and not rusted out. All components are there and it has been restored to driver quality. The bottom flange has a kink in it where it was bent and straightened and there are two small paint chips but otherwise, it is great and could ea...

Ford Roller... I buy all the NOS/like-new units when I find them because they are cheap and litter the swap meets. I put a new one on every year and keep on motoring. They work great. For some reason, I like my Model T to be a Model T. So the pre-tour maintenance is nostalgic for me.

If you really want to get down to the nitty-gritty, the block and the car in which it is being put in are being falsely represented. There are also federal laws which make it illegal to alter items that have been serial coded. Now, HAVING SAID THAT, I would say go for it so long as you make some sor...

Val nailed it. When you take a grinder to it and restore the car, there are details that are lost to the ages. The red Chevelle i posted above is the second SS Chevelle like that, that I've had. I would take the previous car to shows and park it in a sea of restored Chevelle's and Camaro's. The un-r...

Here's a "before and after" shot of the Chevelle I recently preserved. You take a car like this to the Saturday evening car show at the local ice cream joint, and EVERYONE gathers around it. The same happens with my un-restored 1915 Touring. Everyone wants to see how the factory put this screw in, o...

I realize that I am going to tied to the whipping post for this, but I really don't care. My subject line says it all. I believe that as a club, we should start encouraging "preservation" instead of restoration, when correct, original cars are discovered. Over the past few years, I have seen four, g...
