Had the same problem once with some original wood wheels once. Broke em down and took a chisel and gave the inner edge of the rim a good cross smack about every 6”. No more slipping.

My choice- paint the rims and hubs black. And the fellows and the spokes green. OR all green. You did so much work with the rest of the car to keep it looking correct, I think with natural finish wood you’ll find it takes on the circus look. Just my 2 cents. I like the car.

It’s 14 or 15. Not both. Picture appears to have crease inboard of top edge make inferences its a 14. 15 has no crease and rounded edge at front nose. We can’t see that in pic. Good luck.
