Re: Clogged 21 inch valve stem

I had this occur once on a rear wheel. The tire had rotated on the rim and the tube was kinked or folded over at the valve. Removing the valve core and drilling through the stem might drill a hole in the folded tube.

Re: Santa Clara Valley Model T Club Endurance Run

Has a date been set for the Auburn swap meet which is usually the first Sunday in June? The Endurance Run has historically been the second Sunday in June. Hope there is not a conflict.

Those are spoke tightening washers. Drive them between the end of the spoke and the fellow to tighten up the wheels.

Re: Mysterious Starter Bendix Bolt Breakage

We are missing an important feature of the bendix spring. That is the direction the spring is wound. All the photos of Model T springs are wound correct; however, the picture of the two springs with the chart of measurements have the Model T spring wound incorrectly. Looking at the end of the spring...

Re: Splitting the wishbone for a speedster

Make sure your radius rods are parallel to the ground. This usually means lowering the rear attachment. If the angle is too much, every time the front axle goes up and down, it always goes forward and aft. The for and aft distance causing wear and resistance to bushings is minimized if the radius ro...

You might consider breaking off the opposite blade so the fan is balanced. A two-blade fan is better then no fan.

Re: Identify This Brass Car?

The early Schacht automobiles were 2-cylinder with the engine behind the front seat. The car cranked from the back of the car and had springs like the curved dash Olds from the front axle to the rear axle. Most were high-wheelers with solid rubber tires. The 2-cylinder Schacht was friction drive lik...

Re: Convert the Ruckstell housing

If you are going to replace the tube, purchase schedule 80, or extra heavy 2-inch dismeter pipe. This will give you the correct inside diameter for the tube and be sufficiently strong.

Re: Do you back up hills?

Yes I have. We were on a tour about and in the late afternoon about 10 miles from the hotel. I had gas in my trailer and enough to return, or so I thought. We did not know of the dirt road and steep hill between us and the motel. A '15 roadster ran out of gas about 200 feet before the rest of the hi...

Re: Intake manifolds all the same?

I have 14 cast iron intake manifolds with different numbers or letters on the front. Does anyone know if these numbers and letters correspond to any particular year? The ones I have are: 3, 4, 7, 9, D, E, G, H, M, N, O, S, V and nothing. Surely O.S. has the answer.

Andy, come by M14,16 and 18 to see the racing offset spindles that I am bringing. They would look good on a Mercury speedster.

Re: Clock mount question.

Scott, I have a New Haven Clock that is very similar to yours. The fast/slow adjustment is in the slot located from 1:00 to 2:00. Use a key to turn the stem at 12:00 that secures a bar on the back of the clock. That bar has screws that attaches to the wood. Don Azevedo
