Re: What have you done to your model T in March
Lots of T owners are dusting off their cars, getting ready for spring. My car just got dusted!
Around here, spring means snow at night, roadster weather in the daytime… Gotta go dry it off before the melt sits in the plug wells! -Chris, in Boulder.- Thu Mar 02, 2023 11:58 am

Re: Need Opinions
Both the T roadster and the 29 CCPU (very similar cowl to the 27 coupe) I built recently needed persuasion to line up at the cowl. Any bumps, lumps, etc. earned in their past lives seem to show up across the firewall. I started with alignment drifts and longer all thread rod to get each spot settled...

Whoa! Lots going on on there besides the tach drive- upper tank and a half, is that outlet and fan mount homemade or do something on the p-side as well? What’s that lurking in the shadow up front, distributor drive? That water pump/ oil pump combo sure is a stylish part, someone should repop that! L...

This one sets up the mag for a chain drive. Perhaps it lines up that shaft drive also? Art in Washington did a big write up of a belt drive with this one as well. -Chris

Yup. Those two generators in particular came that way. One is from a forklift and one is a 50 something’s Chevy pickup, so I was told. Can’t find the pic of the one out the back of the T generator, but same idea/layout. It occurred to me that a housing and drive could be run there in place of the en...

I feel like I saw a picture of a tach drive off the back of the generator on a speedster. Re: Installing Pistons
Perhaps worth mentioning here- it does not relate to valve timing but the pistons/pins and connecting rods do have a specific orientation when mounted in the bores and on the crank, in relation to “front and back” or “cam side/not cam side” of the engine. Some day I will learn to include a link to a...

Scott has definitely nailed the jello to the wall, as my one buddy likes to say. For sure the big question is “can the car make it?” I’m sure that’d be addressed to a pretty thorough degree, but breakdown should be expected and it’s definitely very ambitious. A dose of reality is actually a really k...

I second the notion of cleaning the points with a piece of paper soaked in alcohol or brake cleaner, etc. after filing them. The points also need a fairly even gap when the tab on the plunger pushes them open. Mine was pushing the lower points at an angle and they were burning up from the spark as f...

Looks tidy enough in there! Wonder if those points are too far gone? Make sure that the wire is still insulated completely and the fiber washers on the post are not too dirty or broken down. You want no continuity between that wire and the housing. Try to file the points down a little more evenly so...

I bet we can get you beepin again remotely. I had to remake the points set and added a capacitor to mine to reduce the arc across the points. It’s very loud now and nice and touchy at the button!
