The Simmons and Holley float and float valves interchange. The seat for the needle doesn’t appear to be replaceable on the Simmons. I...

I was working on this one today. It has the screw in vent like the early straight through NH’s and no data plate. It has Ford cast into the body, but is a swayback with the offset drain and long throttle and choke arms. Maybe it’s a transitional model.

It works but they started using a slightly larger float because of increased fuel pressure from the cowl mounted tank. I’ve never had a cowl mounted tank, so I say they work, but I figure since they only make the smaller floats and I’ve never heard much discussion about them not working.

Re: Help With Carburetor Rebuild - Duplex Improved (Simmons)

Here is a picture I took about a year ago of parts I took out of a Simmons compared with the same new NH parts. The seat body is .030” longer, but I can’t say if it was original. It probably was. Then a picture of a Simmons with a new NH seat with only one gasket. It worked fine.

Re: Help With Carburetor Rebuild - Duplex Improved (Simmons)

Here is a drawing I made from an original and one that I made that seems to work fine. I don’t think I was finished Roth it when I took the picture.

Re: Johns-Manville company

Ok. It’s interesting to me the variety of things different companies made. I’ve got a couple International trucks, 1947 & 1973, but the also had International Harvester refrigerators. I thinks Standard Speedometer also made the Standard horns.

Johns-Manville company

I walked into a shop to get a hydraulic hose made and the first thing I noticed when I walked in was the Johns-Manville insulation. I wonder if it is the same company that made speedometers?
